Speedo cable

Post by GeoffJH »

Hi

Basic question which should be straight forward. Is the speedo cable the same part for the sport and strada (1977). Having had the strada cable disintegrate I tried moving the cable from the sport to the strada. Side by side they appear to be the same length when installed its a tight fit. Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't think why there'd be any difference in cable length on either wire or cast wheels: they all come off the same drive gear and need to be long enough to accommodate suspension movement. Are your clocks at a different height?

Me again: I've checked the parts manual (invaluable and you can buy it via this site...) and the speedo cable is the same - part number 46.03.09 - for drum braked Stradas and Sports, and cast wheel bikes.

Thanks Mark, looks like I need to have a closer inspection.

Slacken the wheel spindle and rotate the speedo drive round to the right place.
