Rear schock repair & silencer

Hello,

I am looking for two repair kits for standard Marzocchi rear shocks, for a 350.

Anyone knows where to find louder black finished silencers than the SITOs ? I though about Dunstall but the diameter is too big to fit on Morinis and these are not black finished. Any link for morini silencers would be great !

I just recently rebuilt my two Mazorcchi shocks for the 3 1/2 sport.

I am in Australia, I bought the complete rubber kit from this website, very good quality.

Do you need any special tooling to do the shock 'repair' / rebuild. Mine are leaking and the guys at NLM suggested a straight Hagon replacement...

There was an article in classic bike by hugo about his 3 1/2 and he bought a complete shock rebuild kit from a uk company. Although from memory his shocks where zochi stradas, but if they sell rebuild kits for these they will probably sell kits for the other models. I will have a look through the old bike mags I have and post the tel number.

OK I have found it. It's in December 2010 edition of classic bike and is a how to rebuild your zocchi's article. they get their rebuild kit from windwave (02392 521912 www.windwave.co.uk and they down loaded the shock manual from www.marzocchi.co.uk

Great nice find !
I will contact them very soon because the second pair of zocchi's I have got the same leak problem.

I would prefer to find those kits in europe, hoping it would cost less than through Australian dealers.

Stunty69, there are several types of tools at any prices to compress the shock spring. Some examples :

Or you could do it with straps but I think it's not really safe.

Hi Stunty,

I didn't use any special tools, I suppose a set of spring depressors would have made the job easier but I just used the vice and brute strength to depress the springs.

Mine are good no leaks at this time.

I use a spring compressor that could be easily made at home in a couple of hours, as long as you can weld. If anyone wants the dimensions I'll post them. I have just spent about 1/2 an hour trying to load a picture, but have discovered that I don't have a program for reducing the file size of pictures.
Basicly it is a barr that is forked at the end. a bolt passes through the forked part and the top eye of the shock. It then has a pivoting foot that locates in the spring (this is no more than a piece of tubing that is bolted to the long handle bar with a piece of flatwelded to the bottom) You then push down on the handle (it helps if the bottom eye is held in a vice) and it compresses the spring.
I will try and load a picture at some point, when I have stopped being a luddite.
