Dear Customer,

It depends on the filter but we should be able to do it. If you have a filter that you can send us we can take a look at it and let you know if we can do it.

Thank you,

i'll try contacting them to get a rough idea of prices i.e what do filters that they have already made sell for, before i send off a new filter.

trouble is it's one of those things, who would put money to mouth
would you

looking at their website the dearest filters seem to be $140 , at current exchange rates that approx £92 sterling.
Add postage and it would probably take at least a dozen oil changes to break even. But i suppose if i paid that kind of money to be able to keep the bike, i'd be happy knowing i'm not left with a lame duck.
But i'd need a sticker to let the world know i've got a speciallllllllll filter.

who is the expert  engineer on the forum that could tell us all if these would be practical and at least as equal to the paper filter.

pen to paper please

Right head gasket next

I'm definately no engineer, but if the blurb about their filters on the website is anything to go on, they sound pretty good. Yes they will be expensive, but on the plus side you only have to pay for it once & who knows how hard it's going to be to get paper filters for MM bikes in the future...????

i'll send a filter off now, to see what happens,looking good :P :P :P :P :P

Dear Sir,

We should be able to do this. Please send the filter to me and I will let you know. I am guessing it is going to be $60-80. Most of our element filters are $69.95. It depends on the filter. I can let you know once I have your filter in hand. Our address is below. Just leave me a note with your full name, address and phone number so I can contact you.

Thank you,

Jake Hulsebus

Hi Twisty,
I'll keep following this thread out of interest, but it doesn't look like this guy's even going to come back to me with a counter offer on the bike, so I might have been doing all my research for nothing.... Cheers

if they can make a copy ,it will just be a case of the company will add it to their stocklist i'd presume.

What you really want is to get it posted to someone in the states to re-post on to uk to beat the duty charges.

The wife's posting the filter on Monday , not amused at losing a twenty quid filter that will probably be cut up into little bits for inspection, all in the name of :?

I would buy one.

Assuming results of Twisty's investigation continue positive, Is there mileage in costing and then organising a combined order, assuming it might keep the development cost per person down right from the start? To cost it, we would need to get provisional orders from people and then ask how much that size batch would cost. Then, we could pay in advance into Twisty's bank account (did I really say that?? :o ) and he could place the combined order. I would be happy to play 'banker' and 'postman' like this myself - but I'm just a new guy on the block. Alternatively maybe ask 3X spares dept if they would order a certain number and what kind of up front assurance they would first need of immediate sales to us (again, maybe payment in advance for a certain number). Of course, 3X would probably wish to make a small profit too.

Or wouldn't it make any difference if we ordered separately?

Just ideas. :?
