Warning light bulb #'s

Post by Peach »

Hello to all, Can anyone give me a cross reference # for the small light bulbs in the warning lights on my 78 3 1/2 sport? Would like to track them down locally if possible, say at a napa or bike shop. Are these the same bulbs as in the instrument guages too? Thanks, Jeff

Incandescent bulbs have a short life span in vibrating V-twins, so I replaced all bubes (excepting the headlight) with LEDS. They are vibration resistent, will likely never blow out for the time I will own the bike, are many times brighter and have the added benefit of drawing a fraction of the current incandescent bulbs do. For the dash LEDs I simply soldered a bright white LED to the contacts in place of the bulb, having soldered a 480 OHM resistor in place of one of the terminals on the LED to allow it to run on 12V. Easier would be to purchase a LED replacement bulb for the dash lights, which I suspect are out there. Turning indicator LEDs generaly have resistors already in place, and are a plug in and go proposition.

I tried leds too.Coloured ones. The blue lights -on led is too bright now. I gave up on the turn signal light because of polarity issue,ie only flashed in one direction(you can do something about that but I cannot be bothered)
Still best of luck
