It has VHBZ carbs and has new rubber manifolds that I have fitted but not sure where the balance pipe would go, this would help me greatly if it had that, yes it does have a tail piece
Thanks barney

Hi Barney,

Please see photo, the tube running up under the tank connects with the other carb. This is the balance port. If you look at the inlet rubber there is a boss where a hole was drilled on earlier bikes to put a takeoff for balancing. There was a mushroom shaped piece of metal that filled the hole when not in use.

The balance ports Mickey refers to are on the carbs, not the rubber inlet mounts. There is usually a rubber pipe connecting one cylinder to the other, but they may be blanked off by a previous owner.

Blooming 'eck! Italian manufacturing!

Try doing something on the intake rubbers. I've seen a take off fitted from the inside glued in with a screw on cap. I think it is essential on a Morini.

Ok upadate, vac ports added to carbs, ultrasonic cleaned, balanced at tickover and 2000 rpm, nice crisp pick up off idle, then took it for 20 mile thrashing, revs up to red line, rides fine if you thrash it all the time but if the rpm is between 3-5000 and gently roll on the throttle it still has the flat spot, not as bad, new 112 main jets and 42 idle jets balanced and checked again when I got back timing spot on plugs now a dark brown no soot.

Any other ideas to make this slightly better or do I have to put up with it, it is more rideable but hard work when 2 of us go out

Thanks barney

It is how the Sport is. Use the gearbox. Back in the day it was reckoned to being akin to a two smoke. As I have aged (not matured) I prefer the gentler Strada.

Hmm, I thought that might be the case, and your right my 76 Strada is a nicer ride, I bought this as at the minute I’m struggling to start it due to a hernia 😡
