500 sport sei-v (1982)

Post by Michel3007 »

Hi everyone,

I am selling a 1982 500 sport sei-v that is currently in France (Paris) but has English papers (registered as a historic vehicle). It comes from Spain (Cataluña) and I have pretty much no info on its long life, sorry. I am selling as I have a small garage and need room for another project (also I have two other 500 in house :D).

It is mostly original, without starter motor though. Here are some infos:
- the frame and engine numbers match.
- the Lafranconi mufflers are in perfect shape.
- the tires and tubes are new (Battlax BT46)
- the brake calipers, front and rear, were given a proper clean and work perfectly, with new brake lines and new front pads.
- it has a Brembo front master cylinder but I can swap it with an original 19mm Grimeca freshly refurbished if you prefer and a matching clutch lever.
- all lights are working, the horn too.
- the original paint is in good condition overall, but shows its age.
- the carburettors were completely cleaned and reassembled with new o-rings.
- it has an original airbox.
- the meters are not original, as I don't think the 500 came with a mechanical rev counter and so the 12000 km are irrelevant.
- the tank is clean, with its original taps (one electric).
- while recomissioning the bike, I opened the cylinders (low compression) and replaced the piston rings with new ones fom Mdina. Compression is good now, valves cleaned and clearance ajusted.
- new cambelt.

If you are interested, the bike will be brought to Devon, so can be picked up there or on the way. It can also be picked up in France of course! If you have more question, do let me know via PM, I can also send a video of the bike running at idle.

Oh and, almost forget, the asking price is £4200.

Cheers,
Simon

The Sei came with the later binnacle and a mechanical tacho. The instruments look like Excalibur. The white faces are a good look, in my opinion.

Nice bike. Shame it's a Sport.

Aye, I prefer raised handlebars these days. All my bikes have armchair seating positions!

Good to know regarding the mechanical tacho, I was not sure! And yes, I am pretty sure they come from an Excalibur (how did they come up with this name btw :D?).

I have to agree, I prefer the « tourist » riding position even though the Sport is fun for short rides. I do have a Strada top yoke though, so a swap is possible ;)

Nice bike, looks like raised bars already, not the original clips on ? I can appreciate your sentiments though. All my bikes have clip on type bars, but funnily not my 500 Sport which has lovely Verlicchi swan necks fitted. A nice compromise. By the way you haven’t got a set of rear sets for a 500 unwanted hiding in a cupboard?😀
Cheers
Steve.

Unfortunately not, but I recommend the ones made by the chap in Italy. Forgotten his name.

Thanks for that. They look gorgeous, but does he do them for 500s ? I’ll have to contact him.
