Frame pain inspiration

Post by Carts »

Hi

I’m looking for some inspiration, I’m going to get the frame of my 350 powder coated, engine been fettered and polished by Benjy, and have tank and side pods , sprayed in std morning red and black.

I was going to go for black, but thing I say a pic in ATG of one with a silver frame that looked good, so any inspiration / pics

Hi Dave.

If you are sticking with the red tank and side panels, these photos may be of interest...

Thanks, I like the silver frame, that what I saw, fed frame doesn’t work for me as much. I do have a BMW and chair in red with a red frame though.

Think it boils down to personal taste.

For me there is only one colour for frames and that is black, silver frames are harder to keep clean that black, and can look a bit grubby over time.

Having said that I do like chrome or nickel plated frames, you dont tend to see them that much these days, but to me black is my prefered colour for a frame.

At the end of the days it's your bike and your choice - that has always been my philosophy with my bikes.

Totally agree. My red Strada has a black frame, my red 2c a red frame. It's how they were when I got them and they will probably always stay that colour.

Thanks all

I like the idea of chrome or nickel plating but not sure of practicality

I do like the unusual colour of a Paul smart Ducati with green frame and silver faring, so just trying a few ideas out in my head

People have said my only taste is in my mouth

I’ll probably go with black frame though

There is a Morini cafe racer with a chrome plated frame here...

I had the frame of my Gilera Saturno Bialbero powder coated in chrome effect, although bright, to me it looks very like nickel plating rather than chrome. That's exactly what I wanted.
All personal choice as stated, but for me, I wouldn't do the same on a Morini frame. The Saturno frame is a trellis type, and the Morini much more traditional.
My orange 3 1/2 has a darker/mid grey metallic frame which I think looks more traditional.
Only my opinion of course.

Thanks a grey may work quite well, I’ll have. Think about that, may be subtly different

These are all personal opinions so all possibly of varying value; here’s my (probably worthless) opinion. My MK5 3 1/2 has a black frame, red bike gold wheels, it looks absolutely correct IMO. Every Morini of this era I’ve seen with a red frame simply doesn’t look right, again IMO. Silver slightly better but not a patch on the standard black. Another opinion for what it’s worth from someone who’s been in the trade since 1985. A high quality painted frame is generally at least as good as a powder coated one, unless you use a very knowledgeable company who handle motorcycle stuff regularly, don’t just chuck bits in when a big fencing job comes in…😊
