Side stand question

Post by mad muller »

Iam looking to fit a side stand off a honda 250n to the sport not sure if it will workout , but it looks similar, have noticed on the morini frame the inside hole is smaller than the outer one on the frame lug , does the bolt thread into the frame and is it a special type bolt for the side stand any thoughts on this welcome dont want to bodge it if I can help it .

On my K frame the sidestand bolt has a special shape - the end is smaller than the thread, roughly 6mm diameter and I'm guessing 8mm long. The bolt also only has a relatively short threaded section which does thread into the rear part of the sidestand mount; I then have a locknut behind that. The unusual end is probably intended to adjust how the sidestand spring runs as the stand is down or up. As I wasn't the bike's first owner and as it had various other modifications I don't know how closely my bike would match yours in terms of the design, etc.

Good luck sorting out a suitable stand.

That's good info as I was in a dilemma and about to force a bolt in , it sounds like a pivot type bolt which is needed and only the right one will do ,will have a look into getting one to save all the grief thanks again , muller .

The last en of the bolt is been needed for a half-moon shaped metal plate that makes the sidestand go up automatiamente (the german Tüv/Mot insists en that gimmick)

Moin Norbert, not all models have that sidestand that folds by itself, I have noticed that they do all thread into the frame though

I believe one can fit the “ half moon” one way to have automatic side stand retraction or by reversing it the stand has to be manually folded as mine is. But I could be mistaken! Over riding a safety device. If you did that at work there’d be hell to pay.
