Has anyone actually replaced a weeping gear shaft seal in situ?
In an ideal world a fine pointy hook or fine self tapper /wood screw would go in and the seal would pull out.
Marshall’s luck dictates I damage the seal but cannot extract it.

Re: Gear shaft oil seal
I believe this one butts up against the case. I used a small pointy thing to fish it out and it is something simple to fit as there is no need to measure 2mm indent.

Normaly you can pull it out with 2 wood screws. Mark it first with a fine "Piker" where you want to place the screws. When fitted them, pull with some pliers. That should work (did so the times I tried it)

I haven't done that particular job with this puller yet, but have on seals in similar situations.
