Mk I Camel Muffler
Hello
I'm fairly new to the group here, this is my first post on the forum.
I have a 1981 Camel that I'm trying to correct a few issues that were left unaddressed by the last owner. I have had the Marzocchi shocks rebuilt and they no longer leak oil on the garage floor.
I now wanted to try to locate a repro or used muffler for the bike now. Any ideas of anyone that would have something to replace the supertrap that is on my bike currently?
Thanks in advance!
Pete

Hi Pete, I have been informed that Franco Bergamasco makes replicas of the Lafranconi Camel exhaust

Hope this helps? Ian

Re: Mk I Camel Muffler
Hi Pete,
Franco in Italy who had some excellent reproductions made. Unfortunately he sold them all and says he needs an order of 5 to make another batch.
We have been trying to buy a new Mk1 camel silencer for Hugo’s bike so getting a group together to make up an order of 5 would be wonderful.
I’m happy to coordinate- if anyone wants one (or two!!!) then let me know!
I don’t know about price- it probably depends on batch size etc but I seem to remember they were around 4 or 500 euro.

Re: Mk I Camel Muffler
This is great news! I'm fully "In" for one muffler.
Now hopefully a couple others seeking Mk I mufflers surface. I only need one since I only have the one Camel.
Thanks for your response, Tom and Ian!
Happy Holidays!

Hi, I have told Tom F I would like 2 Camel 500 silencers
Thought it was worth mentioning that all twin shock 500 Camels use the same exhaust system
(Same case with the twin silencer sytem used on the 501 Camel/Coguaro)
Contact Tom if interested in buying a 500 Camel silencer as the timing is right for Franco B and you could miss out

Re: Mk I Camel Muffler
That's great info, I was wondering if this was the case on the twinshock off roaders. I heard that the pipes may be the same diameter too. Do the twinshock 350s and 500s use the same mufflers too?
I'm in contact with Tom. It sounds like we have enough interest to make an order with Franco!

The 2-2 tubes of later enduros 350 and at least 501 are the same, only the end that enters in the head are of diferent diameter.

I've heard the pipes diameters are the same for 350 and 500 too. The silencers are definitely different though. Also there were never any twin shock 350 trail bikes, only the road models. They had different diameter pipes and silencers too.husing3825 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2023 03:59 That's great info, I was wondering if this was the case on the twinshock off roaders.
