I'm finally to the engine reassembly stage on a 3 1/2 Sport. The factory manual specifies "Arexons Motorsil D" sealer. That doesn't seem to be particularly easy to find here in the US. What sealer do you guys recommend for between the case halves? With the gasket (as supplied by NLM) or instead of?
Regards,
Charlie.

I used "Three Bond", without a gasket. Seems OK so far. See post from Evguru:

Hi Charlie,
If your preferred accessory store doesn't stock Threebond, look out for Loctite 5699, it is grey in colour and works really well.
Another source of Threebond is a Yamaha or Honda dealer - Yamabond and Hondabond are the same stuff.
Hope that this helps,
George.

To clarify, I used Three Bond Silicone Liquid Gasket Grey - TB1215. As George says - the same as Yamabond. I'd had good results with Yamabond on other jobs but found it easier to order the TB1215 on-line (from Demon Tweeks here in the UK).
Re: What sealer for engine assembly?
Threebond 1215 is specified in the Cagiva era engine manual.

Thanks all. I was thinking about Hondabond 4, it's my "go to" sealer on projects like this and it appears to be the type that was used from the factory on my K2.

Re: What sealer for engine assembly?
I have been using some threebond grey 1184 which seems to work, very sparingly applied.I had a bit of a weep on the top of the crankcase behind the rear cylinder after having the motor apart in about 2008 (I had some hermetite gold at the time-a mistake in retrospect)so last year when i needed to do it again I made sure to clean up the cases with a wipe of carb cleaner and get this sealed.I also try and clean out the threads on any cases as they can get a bit nasty, particularly it seems the ones around the pickup area.
Only other sealant is a wipe of hylomar when fitting the sleeve on the clutch side.
good luck John

Re: What sealer for engine assembly?
I meant to say I don't use any crankcase gasket, just Threebond.
