Hello Folks,
When I stripped the clutch side casing off I didn't have a replacement gasket, I built it up with Motorsil D, everything turns, nothing is tight, clutch drum/primary gear end float has been checked and is ok, should a lack of thickness of gasket cause a problem?.
Thanks,
Alan.

Re: Lack of gasket
That is a good question I cannae answer. However, I always thought gaskets stopped oil leaking. If you have replaced it with something else surely the thickness would be equivalent?
Re: Lack of gasket
The original crankcase centre gasket was very thin, but was replaced by the use of sealant to improve oil tightness. Some sealants are 'self shimming' and achieve a consistent thin film.
The only concern I can think of is that the oil pump feed sleeve is now over-compressed and potentially restricting oil flow.
