I noticed that the original sport seat on my bike does not seem to be the same shape as the sport seats that I see around the forum. The following two pictures shows the difference :-

Image
This seems to be the most common sport seat shape that I see and also seems to be correct for the 1977 year.

The seat in this picture is off the earlier model sport (ser 1)as Norbert said

Image
This seat shape is the same as mine but appears to be on an earlier bike.

the seat on this Strada is for a sport with mag/cast alloy wheels c.1979 to 1981'ish [
Can I ask if anyone knows which seat shape is correct for my bike model and also what other information you can offer as to the seat shown in the black and white image?[/quote]

Believe none of the seats in the photos above are correct for a 1977 spoke frt disc model

Paz2112 wrote:That is a great picture of a very clean and new looking Sport. It is becoming evident that just like Italian cars, Italian bikes were built to the 'whats in the store today' specification. [ I have also noticed that the tank on my bike does not have the ridge up the middle which other 1977 Sport's appear to have so I guess a lot of parts were running low/out and being superseded just at the point where my bike was assembled.

I had a '77 sport yrs ago , didnt have a seam/ridge up the middle of the tank,

Either way its all good and I guess makes it unique, just like every human being in the world

I think it's fairly well established that 1977 was the year that cast wheels were introduced, wire wheels and discs were just for the 76 season.

That's just PRODUCTION year, which has little to do with registered date and nothing to do with special orders, dealer modified machines or anything that's had parts swapped over time!

The OEM seat manufacturers, NISA, currently list just three seats for the V-twin Morinis; The original short Strada seat, the round tail Sport seat and the 'square' back seat.

The ready availability and reasonable price of the round tail Sport seat, along with it's aesthetic appeal to many has made it a very common choice for replacing a worn original, rather than getting a seat recovered.

The square back seat, although listed, appears to only be made to order. NLM said they couldn't obtain them, but Wolfgang Tritsch had a batch and I just bought one from an Italian source.

My Sport from 1977 (good estimation from frame number) has the ridge down the centre of the tank and had a square back seat, just like the brochure.

Paz,Thanks for the ultrasonic cleaner info. The bike looks great! I have swapped my forks to put the calipers behind too. Looks better, especially when the 320 disc placed the caliper further from the leg.

Hi there,
this is Eugenio from Italy, I just registered to this MRC.
I am not jet a Morini owner but I am looking for a 3 1/2 sport and while searching I bought a book on this bike.
I saw you have some questions on seats and coulor by year and may be more.
I thought to scan the full book with the intent to post a PDF version but I am not sure it's proper and legal.
Hence find below the link where to buy it: (hope the link is working)
http://www.giorgionadaeditore.it/moto_s ... tanta.html
There are plenty of info you may be interested, unfortunately the book is in italian and I am available to help with the language should any of you have this requirement.
Hope this can help
Cheers :)
Eugenio

Check in the previous page of posts, I made links to the supplier of the cleaner there. Thanks, I have not had any time at all in the past few months to work on the bike unfortunately. I would love to get her finished but alas real life and a young family have a habit of taking up my time.
