Strada taking shape on the road soon...

Post by Coventrykid »

Hi all
Strada nearly done paint is a VW colour and engine in great shape really, need exhaust nuts to fit system and then the decision powder coat the frame or enamel?
I have had a job with the tank using por15 but its holding fuel fine and looks very clean now.
9th Morini I have owned now and still not cured.
I currently have a Laverda SF1 just restored on the road and a great bike for going places but if you want a quick fix the Morini is the tool.

That's looking very nice Noel. Similar paint scheme to my Strada, only lighter; it works very well. I bet it sounds good like that...

Hi Thanks for the reply
The bike does sound a bit burbly without the pipes but it started first go...
I have stainless down pipes that I polished today, they were fairly tarnished brown so not cleaned at all I suspect.
The exhaust nuts are functional with one being fairly good but the rear one has a castellation missing so I have ordered a pair of brass/bronze ones from Mauro Gini in Italy, should arrive tomorrow will post a picture.
the silencers are Sito chrome in as new condition really but just not for me so if anyone is interested send me a message, really want stainless in passable condition as I can make them look like new or shorter type items. The idea is to use the bike in changeable conditions as I have done thousands of miles on Morini including the very excellent Kanguro (had two and used them for everything) and a Camel twin shock that was ok but not worth all the hype over the 350, will get a hammering for that.
Frame is not bad and I do not really have the time to pull it down to enamel so will paint in part where required until time allows, you should not treat all bikes like trailer queens especially Morini.
Quick mention the rear shocks are Girling and firm in fact a bit too firm for me so Hagon's will be the order of the day when the shocks sell on.
I have a newly refurbished Laverda SF1 that is super for a longer ride with relaxed power and handling but the Morini is like wiping 25 years off your age when you take the back lanes.
