As I have sawed up my fuel tank for major modifications, I now see why the Morini fuel tank on my K-2 looked so nice...The factory coated the entire tank with body filler to smooth out the weld seams and any imperfections in the metal....Makes for tough stripping though.....

Re: Why Morini Fuel Tanks look so nice
Whatcha making? Looks pretty cool so far...
Re: Why Morini Fuel Tanks look so nice
Making a tank with:
1- the rear corners trimmed off so my knees can tuck in.
2-the Filler cap moved to the left about an inch and made "flush".
3- right half of the tank will now only be a cover for the air filter, intake , and top half of the supercharger....

Re: Why Morini Fuel Tanks look so nice
Are you doing all the tank work yourself? I'm having a hard time finding anyone willing or able around Tacoma to reshape the topside of my Excalibur tank, certainly not at a reasonable cost.

Oh Yes,,,, I'd hate to think what it would cost retail to have it done....
One thing you could try is to find a vocational body work auto class in your area...They will often do things like this for just the cost of materials....
You have to have time to spare because they operate on their own schedule...
Be sure to flush the tank with lots of hot soapy water before grinding to get all the gasoline residue out....
