Found an excalibur
Found an excalibur
Looking around for parts I found an excalibur for a decent price. I cant seem to find much about it other than its a 500cc. Seems like it would make a nice donor motor for my 3.5. Do you guys know this bike at all?

I'd have to agree, its fugly. Reminds me of that movie "Purple Rain".
I looked at the Mick Walker book and it says the X had a 500cc motor, 6 speeds, 2 into 1 exhaust, bigger carbs, and kokusan electrics. Has anyone fit that motor into a 350 frame? I'm not sure the 2 into 1 exhaust would fit but the motor looks like a straight swap in. The owner told me the starter isnt working. He thinks its the starter clutch shoes.

Re: Found an excalibur
There are 2 '500' engines. The earlier ones look like a bog standard 500 engine with the electric start in the side casing. The later ones (RLX?) have the Japanese starter out front and different cases. Both are 507cc, not 478?
The Excalibur has 2 silencers and a plumbing nightmare under the engine.
There are a few 501 engine 350s around......

Re: Found an excalibur
Here's one that was prepared earlier. A 501 Excalibur engine (507cc) in a 1976 350 Strada frame (no complete motorcycles were hurt in its construction). It's a joy to ride, with the 350's handling and the torque and power of the larger engine. It's 6-speed, and the starter motor was removed when the conversion was done.
