Dual disk 350
Hey All
I recently got my hans of a Moto Morini 350 sport from 1978 - it was a wedding gift from my wife. It is currently undergoing a restoration and one of the elements that I would like to upgrade/change are the front brake.
Currently it is a single disk. But i would like to make it a dual disk model. Do you know what parts i need to buy to do this? As I se it i need the following elements:
- Ekstra disk
- Brake pads and brake caliper
- Hydraulic hoses
- Moutning bolts
But what about the speedo drive ?

You'll find the early style calipers in short supply.
The speedo drive can be cut down with reasonable sucess.
If you're fitting a second disc simply for improved braking, try a smaller master cylinder first. The one from a 250 twin works well.

Simon - you, sir appear to have a wife and a half! What a top lady. Or maybe she just wants you out in the garage for hours and hours while she does.......
Anyway, I acquired my 3 1/2 last year with quite a box of bits from a later twin disc model. Amongst the items I don't need are a pair of front calipers and master cylinder. No discs though. They will all need rebuilding with new seals and I will have to check whether they would fit other models - I assume the distance between mounting bolt centres is the critical dimension. I can look at my 1977 model and see if it works if you are interested - I'm assuming they will.

If you do choose to go ahead with two discs a pair from a Pantah are supposed to fit with very little modification. A few members have done this. There's also a fellow called Roy Thursby who offers a kit of some sort.If you're fitting a second disc simply for improved braking, try a smaller master cylinder first. I would like to fit a smaller master cylinder to improve my single disc, but does anyone know a suitable smaller modern master cylinder that i could look for on a certain auction site. I'm not bothered about originality so any make would do (though would prefer a italian one, maybe a nice one with remote resevior?!).

A new Grimeca cylinder was about £60 from NLM last time I bought one.
A certain trader on ebay buys from NLM and then marks up by a large percentage to take advantage of idiots.
The 250 Cylinder is 14mm bore as I recall and I think some people have gone down to 12.7mm (1/2").
There are some very cheap no-name mastercylinders on ebay. Many are just fine, but you have to be prepared to throw some away as junk. I've seen brake levers made from almost pure Aluminium, they just bent straight back to the bar!
