Hello,
Does anybody know a colour code or near match for the more orange red of the early eighties bikes where both the body work and frame were painted in this colour? Typically with black and gold pin stripes.
Many thanks,
Robin

. . I got a very good match for the original paint on my 250, I'll dig the tin out next time I go up to my lock up, I think it was a Peurgot colour . . .

So you can get the exact match, on which day of the week was your bike made?

Hi Robin,
As Dom says, there really isn't a "correct" red for a Morini. I sprayed mine in Ford Radiant Red. It looks ok to me and comparing it to a picture of my bike when new it certainly looks similar.
Best thing to do is to go to a motor factors and look at the paint colours available and choose one you like. No one will call you out for it being ' wrong ' !
George.

Yes, pardon my facetiousness, Robin. I've heard there's a Toyota red that looks great, you could keep the Lambertini connection and source a Ferrari red, additionally I think there is Morini a colour chart somewhere out there on the 'net that I vaguely remember seeing once.
Cheers,

Thanks or your replies.
I realize there was an element of 'flexibility' in that the factory used what they had to hand, much like that other company in Bologna...
I did go into my local motor factors with a side panel under my arm and one colour jumped out at me straight away and seems to be a very close match: Ford Sunburst Red.
Cheers,
Robin

No, it's simply that pigments weren't that well controlled by ANYBODY in years past!RHThomas wrote:I realize there was an element of 'flexibility' in that the factory used what they had to hand, much like that other company in Bologna...
It's not so many years ago that if you went down the the motor factor for a couple of 'rattle cans' you checked the batch numbers to make sure you didn't get slightly different results.
