I really must try the Pollini elbows/filters again. I still have them somewhere. They required much smaller main jets than the S&Bs with everything else the same, so my false 'logic' made me think I would get more power with those

Yes, the Polinis require smaller main jets than the K+N replicas I used before (115 to 130 more or less, both with slides 50 and 268T atomizers). To fit the Polinis I had to add some O-rings on the carbs. Rocinante with the 350 airbox (no matter if there are filters inside or not) needs main jet 130, also with slide 50, 268T, 45-42 idle, X18 needle (at another height than with Polini)
