3X Parts availability and G Passo thread

Post by Chips1953 »

Hi

I have just looked at the 3X Website and when you click on Moto Morini it comes up as an 'error'.
I was just a little dismayed as I got my Corsaro from them in November, so I spoke to the parts department and they tell me they have parts, are still able to source parts, are still willing to source parts and are keen to help but don't know what is in it for them.
As a customer I know what is in it for them.

I sent an email to the factory for the availability of a hugger from the Rebello to fit the Corsaro, they sent an excellent email back saying this will be possible in September, as for other parts I've not spoken to them.

Looking at the GP thread they seem to be putting together a list pf parts that are common within Ducati/Garrelli etc that fit the GP. I think this is wonderful idea as we may well be on our own for at least a while. Can we get support to do the same with the Corsaro? At least to collate parts from other manufacturers that will fit the Corsaro.

I am willing to help put the parts list and source together, but I don't have a lot of knowledge on knowing who manufacturers them. Perhaps we could have a thread that lists these parts?

I bet there is already one, but I've not seen it.

I've said before my Corsaro got best modern bike in show and I'd not even cleaned it. Got to be worth looking after them especially as they ride so well.

End of rant!

I'd guess that the "original" Corsaro will be treated as a modern classic within a couple of years. I rode one back after dropping of my GP at 3X for service, and it reminded me of just what a blast it is riding one, even though I had Diane on the pillion as was taking it really slowly :)

So tomorrow I'm taking it out for a proper run, just for old times sake... :P

and I really couldn't care if it's raining or not... Just because these bikes might become classics is not a reason to wrap them in cotton wool!

It's a proper Veloce, possibly even nicer than the 06 Corsaro I had until I swapped it for the GP - talk about chalk and cheese! The good thing is that Diane reckons that it's comfier than the old one, but still not as comfy as the GP. So, one's a duplex, the others a solo then. So, watch out Berkshire and Hampshire.

On 3X, I had a chat with them on the future, and they really want to see the new Morini succeed, are happy to service and sell spares (they've just sent some head gaskets to NZ) but need some clarity on the business relationships. I'm putting a fuller note together for ATG, which will come out in a month (as the current issue is just on it's way to print). I'll see if I can post an abridged version on the Forum.

Good riding,

Thats not the response I had when I rang 3X... the parts department said they no longer held any Morini stock and didnt even have a microfiche or list of part numbers... as you can see in the GP thread, I have slowly been finding out what bits come off what bike and also who stocks them,,...I love my Morini and wont stop using it but IMO you need to start thinking independently about who will be able to supply stuff..
My biggest concern so far is being unable to match the Morini Oil Filter..... luckily I still had one new one for my service..but if anyone knows of a suitable swap I would be pleased to hear about it.. :)

That is of interest to me, Gedge.
I will spend some time looking for replacement parts, even after market stuff that is of good quality.
It will surley be useful to us all as the engines must all be very similar, thinking hoses, pipes, filters etc. Twisty has a thread about filters being made in the US.
If anyone has 3 pennies worth of info please leave it here and we can make a reference.

Yes many engine parts are the same...Most of the electrics are Ducati items ( as is the front sprocket)... that includes the coils and also the ecu uses Ducati mapping..
Shims are KTM items

I am sure others can add stuff as you go along..
If the Corsaro used the same plugs its worth noting that they recommend CR9EB which are hard to source, when it turns out that they are identical to CR9E plugs except the B has the screw on cap  NGK managing to save a penny per plug by not including it in the box...it must cost them more to get new boxes printed and codes added? anyway , moral is , change your plugs, remove the screw on caps then you can fit the readily available 9E's :D

rad cap is a ktm item, same as oil cooler

really need just one page .i.e a volunteer to take all the info sent via p.m's and just add to the parts list as folk supply info otherwise you will have a thread a mile long.

Great idea all, lets get this going.

As a forum administrator and the Webmaestro for the MRC site (and a corsaro owner!) I'll put myself forward to collate the list of parts compatibility for the watercooled bikes. I'll set up a page on the public area of the MRC site to make the info easy to find rather than having multiple threads on the forum. Sound like a plan?

You can either PM me or email webmaestroATmorini-riders-clubDOTcom

I'm away on business for a few days but will get going with it when I'm back.

Thanks Tom, that makes perfect sense.

I also endorse your comments on support the Factory by using OE where possible. Having a list of alternatives will help keep everyone "honest"; some of the OE is cheaper than alternatives in any event...

Good riding, now that April showers are here (to stay?),

PS - my run on the Veloce was fun, even if it was a little wet in places :D

All,

The parts interchangeability page is now on the club website here: http://www.morini-riders-club.com/thebikes/parts.html

Please let me know if you have any additional parts information, and do feedback on the format if you want it ordered differently etc.
