Moto Morini has unveiled the new Sport 1200 and Scrambler at the Padova motorcycle show.
Both motorcycles are based on the Moto Morini 9½ Sport, but with different styling and chassis parts to give them a unique appeal.
Both bike used a 117bhp version of Morini’s 1187cc Bialbero Corsacorta engine breathing through a unique twin-silencer exhaust system, and both use the same steel trellis frame with Marzocchi upside down forks with a single offset rear shock absorber, but the Scrambler is fitted with knobbly tyres on a 17â€￾ rear and 19â€￾ front Excel spoked wheels, whereas the 1200 Sport has 17â€￾ Excel rims front and rear fitted with road tyres for maximum grip.
Both use the same bodywork, but different paint schemes help disguise the similarities between the models. The Scrambler comes in black/white with a black frame (with another colour choice to be decided), and the 1200 Sport comes with a white frame and the option of Gulf-style orange/blue or British Racing Green/yellow.
The 1200 Sport is expected to go into production in March, and the Scrambler will be available in the summer. Prices are yet to be announced.

All;
As revealed to the Morini club at the Factory Visit in September - Morini are using the "old style" tank badges on the first showing of both these models. Is this another possible club product?

Chris,
Reckon the 'retro' style badges look great and you might be on to something.
I like the look of the sport - Though not sure why they chose a white frame?!
The scrambler look a bit too obviously like the existing 9 1/2 with Knobblies
which it is...
So few people have seen a 9 1/2 I guess most won't notice!
Hell of an expanding range.

The Factory reports strong interest in Italy in the Scrambler - orders are being given to dealers even before the bikes are at the shops - just like the GranPasso...
It will be interesting to see the UK reaction!

Have just learned MM have dropped the 'Gulf Oil' colour scheme on the 'Sport'.
This being the blue/orange with white frame.
I have it on good authority that the reason was due to a dispute with 'Gulf' over the use of this colour scheme.
Interestingly: I recently read in one of the bike mags. (I THINK it was in MCN?!) that BMW are launching a bike with this colour scheme.
Wonder if that had any bearing on it(!).
The good news? Well the 'Sport' is to gain a new colour option: White with a metallic blue stripe/band, edged in red - White/Blue/Red.
Along with the black rims, handlebars and yokes it looks stunning.
Sadly, for the moment I have been asked not to post any images of this bike.
The green/yellow 'Lotus' colour scheme remains an option.

Steve;
Interesting news about the Sport colour options - now a red with black side flashes would go down with a certain traditionalist section of the MRC!
Was down at 3X recently and had a good chat with KD, the MD. An interview will appear in the club may ATG in due course
Hope that the Corsaro continues to perform - took mine to the Bristol Auto day on Saturday - very good day out - expect this to be an annual event..

Chris,
Good to hear from you and sorry that I missed the Bristol event.
Will be sure to join the club, within the next few days.
My Corsaro is performing well and pleased to say that it has received quite a few compliments from other bikers.
Had a dice with a Honda SP2 on Saturday and the rider was clearly
impressed with the performance and signalled his approval.
At 3X there has been a noticeable upturn in the interest shown in the MM brand and several bikes have gone-out to buyers at other dealers.
KD and others have just been on a Morini riding trip to Scotland -Will be interested to hear how they got on.
Things are looking up and hope we can meet-up soon.

Stephen;
Next local MRC meet is 3rd Wednesday at the Bell, or possibly meet sooner at 3X - I would like to try out the Avio myself..
Alternatively there is always the Bristol meeting this Thursday, but that is a little more challenging, and the roads are not such fun
So the forthcoming Saturday at 3X might be best

Chris,
I was at 3X last Saturday and so guess we are 'out of phase'.
This coming Saturday I am away shooting, down in Sussex.
Perhaps we could keep an eye on the weather forecast and maybe arrange to meet somewhere
I don't use the MM for work and so it's easier to arrange an evening meet, now we have the extra daylight.
Will send you a PM if I have any ideas.
You may be interested to know that I joined the MRC last night...

Stephen;
Congrats on joining the MRC
I'll dig out a copy of recent ATGs for you - ones about the factory visit, etc...
As I work fom home (being a surveyor with BT has advantages

) I can make a reasonable number of evenings, and need to get down to the Hampshire Bowman on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for another one make club meet. I am sure that we can fix something up, just to get a reason to use the Corsaro - can you suggest anywhere interesting if the HB doesn't suit?

Chris,
'The Hampshire Bowman' is a good choice - making sure that you look out for gravel and idiot car drivers, on the lane leading to the pub!
Another I can think of for character is ' The Newport Inn' at Braishfield, near Romsey.
The 'Newport' is the pub that time forgot and in the genuine sense, rather than manufactured.
It is not good for food (they do plough-mans' and sandwiches: cheese, ham or mixed and um? Crisps!).
It has good atmosphere and a pleasant rural setting.
You would have to go there to believe it...
I'm sure we'll sort something and the weekend weather is looking promising.
Will keep in touch on this.
