Cafe' tank and seat?

Post by AntietamClassicCycle »

I will be doing some "remodeling" on a customer's 350K2 soon and he wants to go more early 3 1/2-cafe' style. Original tank is rusted badly, seat and the rest of the body work is badly damaged. So the search is on for a tank and seat/tail section in that style. Any sources for parts made for Morinis or will I need to adapt some meant for another brand? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have some SeiV-K2 stuff for sale if you want to keep it original: http://link.marktplaats.nl/m885926281

a new sport seat can be found with AMEX Motorradsport for a reasonable price (frame needs only minor work, hinges off and two tabs under the frame on the rear)
tanks are getting pretty rare... but AMEX claims they still have a reasonable stock so you can try to get the bunch form them

A fabricator friend of mine started work an a aluminum tank for me. I found an original w nice patina and pulled the plug on the order. If you want I could get you in touch with him. Im guessing the cost would be 3-400. He does excellent work and it will fit the bike as he has my old tank as a model.

Bike arrived yesterday, so I finally had a chance to see just how bad the stock bodywork really is. In reality, it's quite nice - no cracks in the fiberglass, minor dings in the tank. Will just need dent repair and paint. Frame paint looks nearly perfect, that on the engine, forks, wheels, etc. is flaking off badly though.

In light of this, the owner is now just thinking about reusing the original bodywork and doing a color change from the present red w/silver to black w/gold. I'm not sure how close to original he wants to go otherwise. Depending on this, I may need to find an upper section of the plastic instrument housing - this one is shattered due to a past accident.
