Creating more damage than you fix.

Post by Monstyr »

I tried to fit the centrestand to the frame last night , that set up has got to be the stupidest design I've seen. I had to have the old one torched off and a new tube and bolt was offered up, ...and promptly stuck half way in.
No other option but to knock it home, after a few thumps I noticed the whole of the frame assembly had bent at the bottom, I still had about half an inch of tube showing so rather than cause more damage I cut it off with a grinder.
Im really annoyed I did this but on reflection I'm just as annoyed by the poor design of the stand pivot, how much simpler would this have been with just two collars at each side of the frame.

The stand is now attached and I'm hoping it wont intefere with the wheel when it refitted or it will have to come off. :x

can only offer sympathy, now into my morini ownership in full swing, lots of cock ups mistakes along the way and more to come this applies to all owners who do there own rebuilds and maintanance, if not there lying! there not like any other bike you have to have a sideways outlook when tackling any job on them i find this is the best method , the blue book manual is no more than a mousetrap of a guide which only helps to confuse , but its better than nothing! it can get costly the more gaffs you make, if it was a jap bike i would have propably scrapped mine by now, but the good points far outweigh the bad when there on song there a wonderfull little bike , so think morini way not the norm, that reminds me thrashed it through the back roads brilliant! done oil change found bits of metal in the sump, got a feeling its time for more morini abstract art! stick at it, muller.
