Here are the stock K-2 Brake and Shift levers modified for rear set foot pegs.... Hacksaw, heating torch for bending, and re-welding of the brake toe pad and I'm ready to go without spending much at all.....
The dog-leg put into the gear shifter is so the rear exhaust pipe can come off and on without undoing anything, and yes I now shift: one-up and 5-down.
I had a very similar setup on an old Drag-bike I campaigned and I never missed a shift at the track from then on.... You get use to it real fast and I think its better than the stock pattern when you are really pushing hard to shift as fast as possible.
