Rocker Arm Lubrication
Rocker Arm Lubrication
I am fairly new to Morini motorcycles and am putting together a 1980 500, my question is, how do the rocker gear get lubrication ?. I can't see a positive feed so assume it must be oil mist. Please excuse my ignorance.
Re: Rocker Arm Lubrication
You assume right, though the rocker covers do have cunning little 'stalactites' which drip condensed oil in to the holes on the top of the rocker arms.

Re: Rocker Arm Lubrication
And very effective it is too!
However, if you only take your bike out for a short run a couple of times a month, then the oil can drain down leading to wear. Not reving high enough may also be an issue, particularly in ex Brit bike riders.
Q; 'Are they really safe to 8500rpm?'
A; 'Oh, definitely not, more like 10,000rpm!'
Use 10w40 semi-synth as specified for the late bikes.
