Or alternatively heat the nuts avoiding the the stud with a lead burning torch using a small jet, get them glowing to cherry red and you will find each one will turn quite easily.

That’s a good idea too. I’m really just nosey/mechanically curious, but I’ll leave well enough alone.
On the alloy, anyone have good technique/product for evening out the finish? See below:

Haha that’s great. My son is 2.5 so his help generally results in disasters. I think I’ll use more elbow grease and “semichrome†metal polish from Deutschland.

Aye Owen (R1100purist),
The outer cases on my K2 are a black gloss paint/powder coat poorly applied over bare alloy, without primer etc. BMW use the same finishes these days! Don'ask!

At present they are not bad and the eruptions from corrosion beneath the coating are not severe. Unless you like polishing alloy, I would suggest taking the cases off and have them properly cleaned, primed and resprayed/re-coated, by somebody who knows what they are doing.
Morinis of this era appear to have avoided the first two tenants of any lasting paint job, cleanliness, a primer and an undercoat; for both alloy and steel components. I am starting to see the familiar squiggly 'rust worm' lines in the paint on my '86 K2 fuel tank that I encountered on the tank and mudguards of my '79 125H. Some might call it "patina", but in time it becomes a mess and makes holes in rare tinware.
However, on both counts, it's up to yourself.

Thanks for the replies all,
I think rather than remove the clutch and do the “correct†thing with a satin black powder coat, I’ll just give the bare aluminum a good scrub and light polish until a later date when I “restore†the bike.
I can’t say morini’s paint quality is vastly inferior to the other bikes of this era I have recovered but I don’t think Morini was a great proponent of primer.
Didn’t get much done on the morini this weekend because I refinished my back deck and then went on a ride on my Puch 250 twingle but we’ll see what we can do this week.

I do. It’s a 1967 Puch/Sears Allstate 250. It’s super elemental and has character in spades. Almost sounds like a 4 stroke due to the unique piston arrangement silences a lot of the 2 stroke “ring a ding ding.â€

I too have a '67 Sears Allstate/Puch SR250, although mine isn't nearly as nice as yours. A friend had been collecting them for 30 years and had to move it all. He gave me enough parts to build a complete bike and I put it all together and made a roadworthy machine.

Hey guys! Useful post. So my 350 K1 clutch (not used since 1987) came apart easily enough... but the studs unscrewed out of the basket, and are still attached to the 5 screws. Are these just called "clutch studs" part 20.01.53H? Their male threads are soft... and not OK...
