Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
Hi Nick;
If it was my bike it was bought in July 2006 from NLM.
When being run in it did over 42 mpg. There was a fault with the ECU at 1889 miles, and a new EMC and exhaust clamps were fitted at 2470 miles (October that year) by the dealer under warrenty. The most I ever got in the tank was 18.5 litres...
The ECU was replaced, along with the dash, bushes etc., at 10089 miles in July 2008, and there was a chipped valve 2222 miles later (again fixed under warrenty). I part ex'd it at 3X for the current Morini in August 2009, when it showed 3084 on the clock. I never had problems with overheating or relays (except that one was loose after a service at NLM - I recall it was the one controlling the indicators) - so that's a new problem - which it looks like you may have fixed.
It'd be nice to see the bike sometime - I hope that it works well for you!
Good riding,
CC

Hi Derek,
Welcome to the forum.
Have you any pictures of the bike.
Usually generates plenty of feed back and I'm sure most if not all of your questions will be answered.

My name is Chaitanya and Chait for short. Im from India and from the south side.
I am a flat out enthusiast of motorcycles and like all kinds especially Naked/retro bikes. Love the 70's/80's classic machines. I started riding bikes when i was really young from as early as 9-10 yrs. I have eternal love for Italian bikes especially MV Agusta, Benelli & Moto Morini. I have a new Scrambler 1200 Red/White and i can't get enough of looking at her. I can bet its the only Morini in India but not sure if there are any classics around.
Have a few other rides and I am getting things together in the garage to start resto work on a VF1000F into a naked (it already is), but more modern & radical, have to see how she will evolve. Have other projects in mind but have to get the better of working in the shed and gaining knowledge.
Morini's are rare and truly exotic and i hope MRC members will lend their hand when I'm stuck with any issues.

Hello again Chait, and welcome.
You'll find everyone here is very helpful and it's a huge pool of Morini knowledge.
As you are interested in classic Italian bikes you may be interested in Benzina magazine which is a high quality magazine devoted to Itallian classics: http://www.teambenzina.co.uk/home/
Also check out this thread where the Morini Riders Club met up at Benzina magazine back in september, 19 Morinis of all ages gathered:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1850
The scrambler is a rare bike in the UK (though probably not as rare as in India) with just 5 on the roads...
It's a superb bike, but I would say that wouldn't I!
Cheers,
Robin

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
Welcome, Chait. I hope you get a great deal of enjoyment from your Scrambler. I've seen Robin's, and it's a lovely thing.
I have India to thank for my love of Morinis: it was when I was riding a 350 Enfield round Kerala that I realised what simple pleasure classic bikes could give and I decided to find one myself. After 35 years of wanting one, I finally bought a Morini 3 1/2. And then I bought a second one. They're addictive!
I'm off to Nepal next week to renew my acquaintance with a Bullet, and I can't wait!
Regards, Mark.

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
How odd ? It worked the other way round for me (sort of). 25 years of Morini ownership led to me getting an Enfield here in Nepal, which I rode home to UK in 2009 (as I thought I'd 'finished' out here). I came back this year so Mark as I live/ride in Nepal drop me a PM if you're coming. I can give you a few tips if you want. I've ridden out here for over 4 years now, so if you want to get off the useual Tourist KTM/Chitwan/Pokhara Butlins trail I can give you some ideas and suggestions.
Cheers
Pete
PS. Another odd thing. When I painted my 750 Devimead powered Morini a decade ago I did it the dentical colour scheme you chose to do your bike (early Sport pattern, in early Strada blue) !

Hello, I'm Alberto from Treviso (60 km far from Venice). In my family there are 2 Morinis: a 3 1/2 GT built in 1077 with some light modifications, and a 1982 Kanguro.
I even would like to tell you that I have some copies of the book 'Moto Morini una storia italiana' new for sale, autographed by Lambertini in a meeting in Padova.
Bye for now,
Alberto.

Hello all
Hi all virtual drinks on me.
While my wife was around a friends house, her friend said she had a "Moto Morini 350cc" in the garage. Her husband died a few years ago and the bike has been stood for ~5 years. That's it - I know noting else, but have said I'd be interested in it as a project. She said she wanted to move it on as her sons are growing up and want cars etc. Shame they don't want it for themselves but there you go. Apparently it's under a load of boxes and she won't get round to getting to it until after Christmas, so I am sniffing around for info. It's about a 1 1/2 mile push home, but there is a pub on he way back for a rest
I'm OK with mechanical stuff, but not good at electrics, so will be here often with the most basic questions.
It may be she's hanging onto it, because she's hanging onto her husband, but if she's willing to let it go, I'm keen for an Italian twin. If it's been chewed up by rats, and falling apart with rust, I'll help her take it to the dump. If it's salvageable I can take my time - I'm in no rush, and the likely money is something I can cover.
72 Degrees has sent me some good info and pointed me here, so thanks to him!
cheers
Markie

Greetings to one & all
I'm Andy, 51 and have been riding since '76, usually two or three bikes in the garage. Just part-x'd a 750 Dorsoduro Factory for an 08 1200 Corsaro Veloce from 3X, formally owned by a Dr/Mr Peter Wright? Wicked bike, in black, Termi's (no baffles) & Race ECU, now with polished pipes (serious thanks to Mark & Adey @ 3X). Off to the bike show at NEC this week to see if I can can get some decent levers/ mirrors etc.
Recent years have seen various XB Buells, TDR250's, and a Benelli TNT Cafe Racer, and we have a pair of RV125 2 strokes, one built from the ground up, the other a rolling rebuild.
Saw a Veloce a couple of years ago and liked it, just never tested it. Wifey rides a Brutale 989R, and I was fed up with trying to keep up on fast road stuff, experience not counting on fast A roads, she decided I needed something "a bit more". After trying various options, tested the Corsaro and was hooked. Picked it up a week ago, now just need the opportunity to ride it!
Good to be part of a forum, have been reading and learning from you all over the past few weeks, may post for info in the future. Good to know that you are all here...

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself
Hi Rich, and all the other new joiners... Welcome to the Forum; did you buy the yellow Corsaro from 3X, if not it's been there for over a month now!
Seriously, Morini are meant for riding, not show, and this is the Forum for them. Most on here are users of the bikes - any collectors (as Paul says, it's difficult to only ever have one Morini) have them because of the passion, not the monetary value.
So we'll hopefully see you at one of the Morini events organised by the club (you know that it makes sense) - last years Tea and Cakes at Benzina will be repeated (please, Greg and Rachael
), the AGM might even be down south and of course there's the Track day at Cadwell on a Friday in June this year. Not to mention the run out to Dijon in May.
Good riding,
CC
