I'm assembling parts for my Morini rebuild, and two things I'd like to replace are the headlamp and the headlamp mounting brackets. The ones I have are solid but quite rusty, and the headlamp chrome ring is scraped up pretty well.
I'd love to replace them with clean stock stuff, but I'm guessing that the original CEV lamp is getting hard to get. Barring someone having one kicking around they don't want, any suggestions for something that look similar, and is the same or better quality? H4 is a plus, something with pics I can see on the internet is a double plus!
Thanks, Sam

Re: headlamp
Hi Sam,
Have a look at the topic about headlamp bulbs in the Tre e mezzo forum, there is some information there. Basically, CEV non halogen lights are rather poor, you would get a nice improvement from Cibie, Bosh or Hella H4 headlamps.
Brackets can be sourced from NLM.
Good luck!

Re: headlamp
Perhaps I should have been more clear regarding the headlamp - I'm looking for a complete headlamp/shell assembly - everything that bolts to the brackets. I looked at the headlamp thread and it seemed to reference only the bolb/reflector parts, though I must admit I could have looked more thoroughly.
As far as I know Bosch/Cibie only sell the headlamp itself. Once I get a shell I'll be more concerned with the internals.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: headlamp
You are right for Bosch or Cibie, they don't sell the shell. This is specific to each motorcycle. However you might get similar stuff from other bikes like a Guzzi V35/50/65 or a Ducati Pantah. Bodging with electrical connections or changing the fixation hardware could be necessary, but nothing impossible. You might also find a shell -maybe second hand- at NLM.

Re: headlamp
Hi,
I have recently purchased one from NLM, brand new in chrome with a H4 35W bulb. £44+vat. Sending the shell off to be powder coated in satin black.

Re: headlamp
The troubles with the 35W halogen bulbs are that:
1) they are only 35W, while the real H4 comes in 55/60W.
2) this bulb is a halogen replacement for the original incandescent (non-halogen) lamp. Ideally, the lens must be designed in function of the filament dimensions, and most of the 35W units have been designed for the old incandescent bulb. Hence not optimal with the halogen bulb that has a smaller filament.
In other words, this solution is a small improvement to using a non-halogen bulb, but far from what you could get with a real H4 bulb and the right lens.

Re: headlamp
I wanted the same as Sam.
I asked NLM when purchasing mine.......the New unit is a specific H4 unit. I am going for a 45W H4 first to see what it is like.Apparently the switchwork will cope with this. As in the link above, a 55/60 could be used if it was supplied via a relay. If the 45W is poor, i shall try the relay route. Here is a great link sent to me by another member.
