Hi Tim and all who have replied.
Ignition - I suffered a lack of higher speed 'oomph' some years ago, yet timing seemed spot on with a strobe. It wasn't until I added an 'ANT2' mark to the flywheel so that I could check rear pot advance that the issue became clearer - the rear cylinder wasn't advancing!
Back then, the only real option was the NLM setup, so I fitted that and since then all has been good.
So check this as a priority.
If there is a difference, then first thing to do is swap the 'transducers' over and recheck timing - this is free!
If timing is unchanged, and the advance is still different then it points to a new pick up being required.
Good luck,
George

Re: Performance issue
Luckily nowadays it is almost always possible to get the original ignition parts, or near equivalents, or have them repaired, so no need to change away from the original system.
Admittedly you sometimes have to be resourceful with the internet and willing to travel a bit.

Re: Performance issue
I would agree with you - the original system does work well.
Back when I went 'NLM' new original bits weren't easily available, and the German made Power Dynamo system whilst ok meant having a lower output alternator as part of the package.
If my issue occurred today I too would go to the 'new' originals route, if only for simplicity sake, but that said, the Sachse system, whilst pricy is really very good.

George

Re: Performance issue
The ducati electronica pick up which I have on mine, moves as one , does the nlm set up have two pick ups like having two sets of points if you follow me , giving the option of timing the front and rear pots separately can only think this is the case , never really give it a thought till now interested how it works muller

NLM pick up: Yes it does have 2 independently movable pick ups, but you don't really want to fiddle with them as they aren't fitted such that they rotate keeping the same gap to the trigger. And when the gap between trigger and pick up needs to be tiny (0.5mm) it is a lot of agro setting it up.
In this respect, the original pick up is 1000% better.
Mine is on there as it still works and I have the attitude of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and at least once it's set up you don't need to readjust it until the next time it's removed.

Re: Performance issue
Out of curiosity, did you change the fuelling when running K and N filters?mad muller wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024 22:22 Firstly, great looking bike!
I have got a two into one system on mine and K and N filters - and the bike performs pretty good. The only difference is that my bike has the original ignition system on. If all else fails, it may be worth considering trying the old set up - if you still have the parts to do it. It sounds like the ignition isn’t advancing enough and maybe whilst you’re at it check the timing belt and the timing marks are all in line.
Hope you sort it soon - I do like the paint job you’ve gone for, I’ll have to do mine in blue now
Cheers
