250 2C
250 2C
I have recently aquired a 1980 250 2C. Of course it needs a few things. First, I need a workshop manual and fork seals/dust caps. I think I can get the workshop manual from Herdan. The fork seals are presenting a problem. I measured the Paioli forks with my calipers and I think they're 32mm. However, I've seen reference to Paioli 31.7mm forks. Which are they? My caliper is not that accurate. Can anybody help me? This project is more difficult than my 75 Laverda 750SF2.[/b]

I'm fairly sure they're 31.5mm, NLM certainly have seals and caps in stock.
My first V twin Morini (after the 125H single) was a very nice 5000mile 250 2C I picked up on ebay for £700. It had spent some time standing and needed the stanchions rechroming. Initially I bought a spare set of forks (possibly from Goerge Lane), but eventually I had a set re-chromed. Although I really liked that bike, it was the least used in my stable and when I had a big bill to pay at NLM got traded in. I got my money back after three years use, they tidied it up a bit and sold it for £1900.
That 250 engine is a little gem. There used to be a Q&A with Lambertini on the factory Morini website. He mentioned on there, that the engine was conceived and designed as a 250, but by the time they went into production, a 350 was better placed in the market. The 250 was resurrected when France introduced a tax break at 240cc, so the prototype was slightly de-stroked taking it down to 239cc.
The factory manual never covered the 250 twin, but the 125 single is half the same engine so most of the data trasfers across.

Thanks for the info Paul. My Laverda is in pieces all over the workbench. I'm rebuilding it. The frame went to to powder coat yesterday. I really like the Morini 2C. Ordered the blue book from Herdan yesterday. It has about 7K miles on the dial. It doesn't quite have the power I'm used to but it's sufficient. Found out the other night that the charging system isn't working. I'll look at that when I get book. For now I can plug it in everycouple days.
