Corsarino Flywheel Puller Size

Post by MRosen11 »

Hello everybody - I have a 1968 Corsarino ZT 48cc, and I'm trying to get at the points and condenser which are behind the flywheel so I can inspect and perhaps repair. Does anybody know what kind of thread I might need on a flywheel puller to remove the flywheel? I have tried a 20mm but it was slightly too large, so I suspect a 19 or perhaps 18mm would be correct? Thank you!

Hello, and welcome to the Forum.

Aplogies for the late response, I've been without a computer for the last ten days or so.

Still, I believe the size of puller you need is 19mm x 1mm.

You can get one here... https://www.pedparts.co.uk/product/2265 ... rilia-rs50

Best regards,
Jenny.

Hello Jenny,

Thank you so much for your reply! I've ordered a 19mm x 1mm and will give it a go. It certainly sounds like the right size as the 20mm was only juust to wide to fit.
I'll confirm if it works!

All the best,
Jack

Hi Jack.

I am pretty sure that 19mm x 1mm is the right size as I read a review of a puller on Italian ebay and someone said that it was 'perfetto' for their 1966 Corsarino.

My own Corsarino was sold over a year ago. It was an import and to be honest I never really did anything with it. As far as I know it is now hanging up in a museum in Norfolk.

Still. Good luck with yours. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
Jenny.

Hello Jenny,

Apologies for the slow reply - I'm glad to report that the flywheel puller was the correct size and worked perfectly. Although it now seems that the Dansi 109 distributor has a bad lightining coil, so I shall have to try and find a diagram in order to work out which Dansi coil to buy...

Strangely I bought my Corsarino in Norfolk in April last year - its also an import, in a nice shade of green. I wonder what the odds are of it being the same one!

Thanks again for your help

Hi Jack.

I'm delighted to hear that the flywheel puller worked perfectly. I'm afraid I don't have a Corsarino wiring diagram to offer you. I suppose if you are feeling flush you could try the Vape system (formerly known as Powerdynamo).

The only green Corsarino I have ever seen was a Scrambler model. Mine was a red and white ZT dressed up as a ZZ. I advertised it for sale on this Forum back in July 2023. Here is a link...

There weren't any takers so I took it along to the VMCC Founders Day and put it on the Morini Riders Club stand with a 'For Sale' sign next to it, and herein lies a bit of a tale...

There was quite a bit of interest in the bike and I started it up a few times (it sounded divine), which drew a small audience, but the nearest I came to a sale was a lady who said it would make an amusing Birthday present for her husband! She went off to 'think about it' but never came back.

Towards the end of the day a chap came up and said it would be a great little thing to put in his Museum in Norfolk. From what I could figure out it was his private collection of 'Petronalia' or 'Motobilia' which he occasionally opens up to the public. Still, we had a chat and he heard it running and was very keen but he said he wanted to make it road legal and it was a major problem that the bike didn't have a NOVA certificate. I said that as it was 48cc it didn't need one. (I was 99% sure) but he insisted it did and offered me cash on the nail, but quite a bit less than I really wanted. Hmmm... He waved his bulging wallet at me and I thought 'Oh well, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush' so I shook his hand and he wheeled the bike away.

Moving forward to Founders Day 2024, I had my Corsaro Special 5-Speed bike on the Morini Riders Club stand. Not 'For Sale' I hasten to add. At some point I wandered off to take a look around the Autojumble, as you do, and when I got back to the stand the guys said that somebody had called by asking after me. He didn't give a name and wouldn't say what it was about. I had no idea who it could be. The description of what he looked like didn't mean anything, so all I could do was shrug my shoulders and see if he turned up again. Of course there was a bit of banter along the lines of 'Who do you owe money to?' Ooer... :?

Later in the day I was wandering around by myself when I heard someone calling my name. I turned around and saw the chap who had bought the Corsarino the previous year, carrying an acetylene headlamp and a pudding basin helmet and other assorted 'stuff'. He said that the bike looked great in the Museum and everyone loved it. Then he said, 'You were right that imported bikes under 50cc don't need a NOVA certificate and I'm sorry that I didn't believe you'. 'Here, this is for you'... and handed me £100 in cash! Well, what a decent thing to do! I was really touched that he had thought about it for nearly a year and gone out of his way to make an honest gesture. So, there are still some decent people out there. That's the power of Morini. :)
