Close call

Nothing life threatening but a close call for of one of my side panels.
Lost my clamping knob during my ride yesterday, arrived home to notice the side panel hanging from one of the pegs.
Fortunately the good old internet has come to the rescue, two replacement knobs, star shape, on there way from China.
Does help having the parts book when identifying the size required.
One will go in the spares for next time!

Lucky!!

I find using a thick rubber washer on both sides, with a hole that’s a snug fit on the knob threads helps to stop them coming loose as you can get a bit of compression on the rubber and keeps the knob in place if it does wind out

Good advice Tom, part of the issue here is that the opposing panel has cracked after being over tightened. Normally this is not possible, but the previous owner had a non standard relay unit fitted to the bike by NLM, which interferes with the panel. I have now modified the panel for a snug fit. My next job is to use the Plastex repair kit to fashion a repair.
I’m sure there will be other work to do, part of the joys of ownership, but for now I am riding as much as possible, any further work can wait for the winter.

Plus 2 for the rubber grommet.
