clutch spring nuts seized

Tried using the proper tool but none would budge even with wd40 on the threads. I was thinking of applying some heat but not sure if that might cause some damage which I want to avoid if at all possible. It looks like the clutch has never been stripped....
any suggestions??

WD40 isn't a very effective penetrating oil. Plus gas or loctite freeze and release are more effective. Worth reying one hf these before resorting to more brutal means. Doesn't always work, but a good start.

If it´s only one or twoo nuts that are locked I prefer destroying the cups of the springs with a rotaflex instead of using too much force with the danger of loosening the studs in thebarrel. To find a barrel in good conditions is much more dificult and expensive than a pair of theses cups. Cutting the fold of the cups carefully you can get out cups and springs. Then get the barrel out and you have more posibilities to get the nuts off. Even easier if it´s not an old barrel with round studs but the later one with hexagonal studs.

sadly they're all seized but take your point ie spring nuts are more easily replaced. Still waiting for the freeze 'n' release to arrive so will give that a whirl first

Good squirts of releasing fluid won’t go amiss either. I have taken to using a very small amount of Rocol Dry moly burnished onto the threads.

well the good news is that the freeze and release worked like magic - squirted for 5 seconds (oo err missus) then waited for two minutes and bingo. However the clutch plates are another story - delaminating as I removed them.

Anyone know of a source of clutch plates for a 500 (Mdina have no stock) ? Also does anyone know what models use the same plates?

350/500 are all the same and if no stock at Mdina then try Stein Dinse in Germany. Failing that I have plenty of used but usable plates. Only the dished type I'm short of. I think I saw Mdina had those in stock when I last checked.
If you want some used stuff I'm in South Leicestershire UK.

By the way are Kanguro plates different - they seem to be available in some places?
