Hi all, due to a coming together of myself / Morini and immovable object I need some 35mm stanchions and front mudguard for my 81 500 Sport. Anyone got any to assist in a rapid return to the road ?
Steve.

Hi Steve.

Sorry to hear of your mis-hap. :(

I have a steel front mudguard which I may be willing to part with. It is a little bit scruffy with some paint loss but fundamentally sound.

I bought it for my 3½ but I imagine the 500 ones are the same. If you want to check, the mudguard is 132mm wide where it bolts to the forks. The bolt holes are 9mm diameter and 53mm centre to centre.

Photos here...

I hope you didn't hit our Prime Minister. Joking aside, hope you are not damaged.

Glad to hear you are ok Steve. Depending how bent they may be able to be straightened. I had a frame straightened by motoliner and they did forks too. I think there are other specialists too.

Good luck, see you on Thursday.

Good. As we age, we don't bounce so well.

Hi all, I am now sorted. Thanks to Jenny for the front mudguard and Nigel from near Rhayader ( Mid Wales ), not far from me luckily, for two complete fork legs. Not sure who Nigel is yet as picking up legs tomorrow morning. He may not be connected to the MRC as this was negotiated through eBay. Also any thanks to Ian Lucas in his efforts in digging through his parts emporium for me, much appreciated. Should be back on the road soon, fingers crossed !
Steve.

Pleased to hear that you have found some forks, Steve.

The front mudguard is in the post as of 4:46 this afternoon. It should be with you by Friday or Saturday.

Jenny.

Nigel is the legendary Ducati Single rebuild/tuning guru Nigel Lacey. His wife Edina had a 250 Morini for a while and he really loves them too. Lovely man, straight as a die (unlike your forks, sadly)

Yes, discovered that when I got to his house / workshop. Hadn’t realised he had moved into hillbilly country. Spent an hour or so chatting over coffee with them and having a look round the workshop and his bikes.

Sounds like an hour well spent. :)

You probably heard the whole story, but if anyone else is interested in the progress of Lacey Engineering/Lacey Ducati and their relationship with Mdina Italia, there is a potted history here...
