Woodruff key. 500.

Post by Arfer Job »

I’m looking for a woodruff key for the flywheel/stator on a 500 sei if anyone has one kicking about in their spares box. Thanks.

Have you checked with mdinaitalia, they have various new woodruff keys for the 350 for instance and aren't expensive in the grand scheme of things...

I think when I looked it said out of stock but I’ll give Doug a ring to check. Thanks.

You can easily make your own from a suitably sized washer. Find one of the 'correct' radius and cut off a slice.
Woodruff keys aren't hard, nor do they provide drive (the taper does that) - it is simply there to locate the flywheel at the right point on the crank so that the marks mean something. When in the crank slot it shouldn't be more than a mm high.
Also, woodruff keys are a generic item and available from many engineering suppliers/ fastener stockists, so worth a search on places like simply bearings etc.
Hope this helps,
George
