Hi All,
Does anyone have a spare exhaust balance pipe for a 350 that they would be prepared to sell? Cosmetic condition unimportant, but must be sound otherwise, mine is pretty rotten and unusable.
Many thanks, Ian

I think there are a couple of types of balance pipe, a straight one and another type with a slight kink in it. Can't help you directly, sorry.
And if ainsty rider wants I have a set of 250 2C front pipes along with the balance pipe, going spare here.

Thanks for the suggestion, just need to find a bicycle frame now!
Alternatively, I was going to source some suitable stainless tube, but thought if anyone had a proper one - its straight btw - that might be slightly easier. Ian

If it's straight then there are lots of vendors on eBay (for instance) who sell stainless steel (and mild steel) tubing and pipes for perhaps £10 - £15 for a suitable length and diameter. I sometimes buy these for general welding and other metal work and have always found the suppliers are prompt and the materials arrive in good condition. Then either a sharp hacksaw or a pipe cutter tool should be enough to help you cut it to length. (I'm assuming you won't have a suitable lathe).
Oh, and there are also vendors of specific exhaust pipe lengths, these tend to have the expanded, split ends (I think they're known as swagged ends) e.g.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-25-2-5-57m ... 3903202648
There are also sellers of exhaust sections that have bends in them, and even flexible exhaust pipe lengths (some sellers will make them to length) e.g.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-Pipe ... 2694807184 They're not ideal as they will probably sag (unless you can weld the relevant joints) but might help someone.
Good luck.
Julian

Over the years several people have told us they have successfully cut a section out of the rigid part of the chrome/stainless suction pipe found on cylinder type vacuum cleaners. Makes a good balance pipe apparently.
