Wanted - Early electronic tach (or parts of) for 74 Sport

Perhaps a long shot, but interested to hear if anyone has an electronic tach available (Veglia - black face, chrome rim). Working or not (strange as it may sound, I'd actually prefer not working) or even parts of one.

Have to be willing to ship to Australia.

TIA

You may be amazed to discover that the innards are basically the same as tacho from a Ferrari Dino.......

Check with jason baverstock at Manly Auto Instrument repairs he may have a duff one.

Where is Aus are you?

Nice one! Lambertini worked for Ferrari so it's not that strange ;)

Actually I'm not - apart from Ferrari, Moto Guzzi used an Veglia electronic tach on some loop frame bikes, pre-dating Morini's use. The internals and casing are more-or-less identical to the Morini version, but not the dial, obviously. Then there's this very useful article for anyone needing to repair the electronics:

http://www.dinoplex.org/tachoconversion/

.....although this is probably not the right place.

However, it's not the internal electronics that I'm interested in, in this case - I really need a Morini one for parts.

I'm in Melbourne.

I may have what you need, but finding it will require some archeological work in my garage.
I'll send a p.m. when (or if) I can find it, but it'll be a couple of weeks before I can begin the dig.
What is the redline on an early Sport? From memory some tachos have a redline at 7500, some at 8000 and some at 8500.

Thanks for the offer, there's certainly no hurry on my part.

My understanding is that all the early Sports had an 8500rpm redline like this tacho:

Early Sports: red zone starts at 8,500; Strada/GT at 8,000.

It's not just early Sports but all Sports had an 8500rpm redline, while as has been said the Strada stuck with an 8000 limit, certainly up to the K1 models.
Reality is there is no reason other than no more go available as to why the Strada should be lower as the valves & springs are the same and the cam is less aggressive in its acceleration rates. Probably a marketing thing.
George.

The Redline is peak power rpm, not maximum safe engine speed. I says so somewhere in factory doccumentation.

OK, I've found two rev counters in the garage. Apologies for oversize and upside down images.

One is from a 350 Sport, the other from a 500. The needle on the black faced tech is pointing at 7750 rpm, it's had the bezel removed at some point and there is a scratch on the face. The 500 tacho has got a mashed bezel and a cracked lens.

I've sent you a PM with contact details, let me know if you are interested.

Digging around in the garage made me realise that I've got other stuff that I should sell too. Anyone need an electric start assembly?

I'll definitely take the 350 Sport version. I've sent you a PM/email.

Hi,

I haven't been on the site for awhile so I missed this post, I am in Australia, Port Macquarie and have an early Sport, (8500 red line) and a Strada (8000 red line) electronic tachometers that have both been restored. I don't need them as I already have what I need.

So if anyone is after them let me know.

Thanks

Brett
