1963 50cc Minarelli - Help!

Hi there,

Not really sure if this site is the right place to get help with a minarelli engine (?) or if I'm committing one of
The deadly sins talking about them here haha, but I would really appreciate any help or info.

Basically I just got a 63, Kerry Capitano with a 48cc FB Minarelli engine that's been sat since 1967.
The gear cable needed some adjustment but as I went to turn the adjustment screw it basically just snapped, so now I really need a new adjustment screw which I'm hoping won't be too hard to find. Would love to know if anyone knows of where I can buy a screw for one or if another screw fits from another bike?

I've attached some pictures that I HOPE work.

Any help would be brilliant!
All the best

Paul

I think the size that Hendre meant is the thread diameter. From the pics and your comment above I would guess that is 6mm? The adjusters are normally fairly standard (within a couple of sizes anyway) So my guess is a standard 6mm diameter with 1mm thread pitch. If you take it out you could take it along to your local friendly Kerry dealer :D or failing that a cycle shop/old fashioned motorcycle repair shop. They may well still make up cables and hold a stock of fittings like this.
Good luck anyway, it looks a nice project!

Hi,

Have a look at Venhill cables http://www.venhill.co.uk/Cables_-_Compo ... /Adjusters and you should see what you need. (Other cable makers are available.)

George.

Oh I see!
Haha yeah I'd love to go to my local Kerry dealer...if only I could!
There is actually an old motorbike repair shop in my area who help me with my 1973 Honda 125 so maybe they could help. I'm pretty new to all this (2 years or so), I'm only 20 so I'm getting to grips with tracking parts for old machines!
Thanks for the estimated diameters!

Many thanks to everyone for your help. Managed to get a 6mm adjuster in there after re-tapping the thread!
Now all I've gotta do is sort out the gears because it's really hard to get it in to first gear! (Handlebar gear change :(
