Still looking for a Morini single or V-twin
Still looking for a Morini single or V-twin
Need a new light weight (well, compared to Tonti Guzzis) project. Anything considered, nothing modern but a Strada, Sport or single would be welcome. david.samways at virgin.net .

Thanks for the responses. I should have said 175cc +

You can put a 350 engine in there, has been done before. Uprate the rear brake hub to al 160mm strada (front is already similar to the 3 1/2) and you have a pocket rocket: lighter then a 3 1/2 and the kinked frames have better handling...dsamways wrote:Thanks for the responses. I think I'd rather have the 1954 Gilera Saturno from them....... But then that would be silly money
The MRC calendar for 2010 has a rather nice photo of a 325 (250 crank and 500 pistons) - there are all sort of premutations with these engines! The lightweight frames certainly have little problem coping with all the extra "power", and its probably easier to get hold of 125 than 250c Vs these days, they go for silly money.

I think they've lost the plot. £200 would be too much!

Re: Still looking for a Morini single or V-twin
Surely not - £2,000 seems totally reasonable for a fully restored and close to pristine Morini. Not a 125 single maybe, but a nice tidy Strada or Dart.
It certainly makes NLM prices seem a lot more reasonable - they have a perfectly acceptable and restorable 1975 Strada (wire wheel, drum brake) for only £1,200, and that's before the haggling. I know which I'd rather have
Then again, there is also this on e-bay; if you fancy a trip up to Inverness... Only £1350 ovno

I think they must have quoted Hendre for another machine. I just spoke to them and they were talking of a couple of hundred pounds, but in fact they're breaking it for spares for one of their customers.
Still looking... I think a 350 would suit me nicely.

I asked for the 125 Morini and they have no other 125 morini's for sale...dsamways wrote:I think they must have quoted Hendre for another machine. I just spoke to them and they were talking of a couple of hundred pounds, but in fact they're breaking it for spares for one of their customers.

That's my old strada, it was good mechanically and was a very sweet running motor after a bit of setting up.
