My 1982 Camel 500 is now up for sale. This is the bike I built up from a rolling chassis around 8 years ago. It has been in regular use as a trail bike since then and has taken me to many UK/Isle of Man green lanes and even as far as the Spanish Picos mountains. As seen at many club events/rallies/shows/rides and a finisher in the 2025 Exeter trial. This is a reliable bike with good LED lights that enable you to ride overnight trials in the dead of winter. It has a good remagnetised flywheel powering a rewound ignition source coil, so it starts really easily hot or cold. I can even start it from a seated position with my left leg. The clutch is smooth, doesn't slip or drag and you can even select neutral at a standstill. It has a stainless full exhaust system that is a copy of the standard system, made by Alldens in Lincs. It sounds lovely and is definitely not loud-I meet many horse riders on the lanes and have never upset any of them. It has side and centre stands, a recent replaced 'X' ring chain and a Scottoiler fitted. The is a 12v dual USB socket on the dash and R&G heated grips fitted (definitely welcome on overnight winter trials!) I have also converted the gearchange to right foot operation and left foot rear brake.
The bike is a Mk2 dressed up to look like a Mk1 and pretty with it too. The overall appearance is of a used but maintained trail bike.
You can see it at Bristol Classic show over the weekend 21st/22nd February, on the club stand. Cam belt replaced this January along with an oil change.
This bike is well sorted and ready to go. The Pirelli MT43 tyres are still good and I use HD inner tubes with puncture preventive goo. The rear shocks are modern 2Win Shocks with adjustable damping. The front brake was recently relined with a material that still works after river crossings etc.
I can send pics by email if you send your address, and I'm happy to answer questions here or by email/phone (number/email in ATG under Green Lane section)
Bike is located in South Leicestershire UK, close to M1 junction 20 or M6 Junction 1.
Delivery might be possible or you could ride it away.
The asking price is £4500 but I'm open to reasonable offers.
I'll stick my neck out and claim this to be the most sorted and ready to ride Camel 500 available in the UK. Not a show pony but respectable!
SALE NOW AGREED-SORRY, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE MISSED IT! GOOD CAMELS DON'T HANG AROUND LONG!

Shameless reply to push this back to the top and also quietly add some contact info. Please form an orderly queue. A shortened version of the advert should appear in the next ATG.
