New Camel Mk1 tanks

Post by Kamel »

I’ve been in contact with a reputable Indian manufacturer of petrol tanks called royalchoppers. They have quoted $300 for a steel tank including shipping. If we can get enough interest we may be able to get the price down. Is anyone interested?

Please P.M. myself or Steve Brown if you are.

Cheers,

Kamel.

Maybe post this on the German and Italian forum as well to get more Camelisti interested?

That's a good idea Hans. I'm not on those forums though, are you? If this project does go ahead I expect any orders from your side of the Kanaal would be best sent direct, instead of from here. This to avoid import taxes and other awkwardness now we over here are sailing interdependently. :)

Yes I am, ja ich bin, si ci sono :D
I'll ask around... Btw maybe it's even better to have them sent to somewhere this side of the Kanaal and organise transports individually? If it's a private matter maybe you can avoid all the import-hassle. Btw I see Kamel is in Switzerland, so that is again another story I think (?)...

You're right he is in Toblerone land, and yes that does open possibilities up.
The stumbling block at the moment is what patterns to send to the manufacturer. I have a fibreglass one that is no longer usable as a tank, but half of the audience will prefer a pattern of the steel version for the UK bikes. I hadn't realised there were subtle differences in the two types.
Lets work on this!

Probably just finished a shift telling people their Amazon Prime account needs a renewal, or the tax office is owed some money, or your energy bills can be reduced.

Hi Hombre, it's probably best to be guided by kamel's experience with the company

Meanwhile photos of my UK market Camel Mk1 tank
The upper part is fabricated in sections and attached to a pressed steel base which is the same as the road 500

Wim Raeymaekers from the fabulous book 'Sempre pui forte' is also on a mission making the Series 1 Camel tank out of aluminium.

Okay, twice the price mentioned here, but:

Why not join strengths and put this up together?

The more people signing in, the more he can get off the price.

I know from experience how hard it is to get a list filled with names (and stay on the list) and then sit with the people who actually have to make the product and pay them before hand, so why not hop onto a bus which is already on the way to it's destination (figure of speaking)?

Not saying I am into this project, but I will have one made by Wim's contacts since this plan is going on for quite some time, and we need those Camel 1 tanks eventually....

If there are two roads leading to Rome, hey, then all is fine

A budget and an expensive road
