I have my first sample cams at the grinders. I've had them done before, but these will be the first produced from data files, rather than from hard masters.
If all goes well and the cams I get back match the data, then I'll look at getting a batch done.

Hi Leo ,leos wrote:Yes, i know. I've seen it on there site. They charge quit an amount of money for it. I'm looking if i can buy one in Germany for a bit less. I'm not saying it is too expensive but still it not cheap
In the past I used cams regrind from Ducati Dortmund but I wanted more power . After that I ordered new camshafts at Newman cams . They made camshaft from a new 2=2 but with some smal changes on the ramp . They are really better in use . I also use straigth primary gears on my bike a friend made them for me .
If you wanted more infos please tell me .
Christian .
Re: L5 cam
Of course i want more information. I adept the morini now for some more power and we want to be reliable this year to get a better feeling how to proceed. With your information we already made some improvement but we have to take some more steps before the start of the season.
Re: L5 cam
Something I forgot to ask. What should the play on the clutch be.
Re: L5 cam
I allways thought that the 501 from the Camel Electric Start has a L5. But when I had to open the motor a few years ago there was only a L on the cam
A friend of mine opened two 501 from the Coguaro and found ...L
Well probably the pair of Coguaro's 501 have had some work on them , I own a matching numbers one and my cam is the orginal fro mthe factory its the L5 ( II ) with the 35-61-61-34 camshaft profile in it then normal L5's i have in the Camel 501 A/E is the 33-58-58-32 degree.
so my guess is that the camshaft where swapped out of the 501 Conguaro engines for the normal L5 types still no bad cam but you miss a bit of grunt down low .
also my coguaro clocks in around 170KM/H on the GPS instead of the 160 top speed the factory says

Simply from riding 501 Camels back in the 1990s
The first 501 Camel XE (small tank) has the wildest most fun engine when compared directly to the electric start version.
It also has the best suspension.
