Orlandi electric fuel tap

After owning my 3 1/2 since 2012, I have finally bit the bullet and purchased a new viton diaphragm for the electric fuel tap that I removed yonks ago cos it stopped working. I checked to see if I got 47 - 50 Ohms resistance from the solenoid and have been rewarded by a reading of 48.7 Ohms so it’s a goodun. However, whilst waiting for the new diaphragm to arrive, I decided to take the tap apart and see if the internals needed cleaning up after 40 plus years which it did. However, upon releasing the solenoid from the tap body, the spring loaded plunger launched itself onto the garage floor merrily shedding the little spring as it went. The plunger was easily found, but I spent the next hour and a half looking for blooming spring, fortunately I found it. So take care when you take one of these apart.

Thank you to our club merchandise team. The Viton diphragm arrived today and is now fitted. I now have a 48 year old electric fuel tap that actually works :D well worth the 38 quid plus P&P.

I lost a spring from a Bing carb. It turned up 5 months later in a welly boot ten feet away.
