Modern 350s

Whenever I read articles on modern 350s they all appear to be under powered or similar to a 31/2. The latest Berk magazine has a test between the Enfield, the Honda (which sounds like my friend's lawnmower) and a Triumph 400.
The 350s have about 20hp, the 400 39hp, which is closest to a Morini, although it is twin cam, water-cooled etc. The results also claimed low to mid 60s mpg. I get 70plus out of my Strada.
There is a market for a new Morini with 40hp, modern water cooled, fuel injected engine with easy maintenance and good looks. Mr. Wang has missed the target with the new Sport.
Progress in 50 years? Seems we are regressing, first Concorde going then the Morini pushrod engine. What next? Cars that can't travel 200 miles without a refuel lasting ages?
