Filler cap woes.....

Post by Andy_C »

Was a bit embarrassed / annoyed when I went to pick up some fuel late this afternoon, went to open the cap, no joy.

Kept pressing the open "button" and pushing down on the cap at the same time, still no joy.

Fortunately I carry some tools, which included a very small screwdriver which I used to prize the locking catch away from the neck of the filler in the tank.

The problem was that the locking cap tab had gone past the slot in the filler on the tank and had clipped onto the underside of the neck of the filler, turns out to be operator error.

On my other bikes with flip caps I have always banged them closed with my fist - not particularly hard, but if I do it on the Morini it clips onto the underside of the neck of the filler, just closing it gently it latches where it should and can be opened easily.

You live and learn.
