Hello All Morini experts :D

Was just wondering if anyone had tried to find a new front brake caliper? I’ll need to rebuild or replace my old grimeca, and came across this one, which looks very similar:

That caliper is too small. What is wrong with your one, may I ask?

Hey Trevor.
Ok, I see. The one I have need’s a complete rebuild, new seals etc..
think I’m better of getting a new one.
But impossible to find?

I've seen one NOS one for sale in the last few years. Mdina have the seal kits. If you need new pistons, they are in short supply. If you have access to a lathe, there are Landrover ones that can be turned down to fit (they're a bit too long). I recently buggered the inner seat of the bleeder on mine (thanks to a rusty ball bearing), but I did source some bleeder insert repair parts, and that fixed it nicely.

Aside from cleaning out the calliper and replacing the seals the pistons may be scored or corroded. Think some may be available ( see ad in last ATG towards the rear)
The bleed nipples have a small ball bearing underneath which also can get corroded.

Also, please note there are two very different calipers depending on your bike's year.

I'm guessing the symptom (which I have) is unscrewing the bleed valve and nothing happening? Is there an easy way to get the ball bearing out or just a combination of ferreting around and trying to blast it with hydraulic pressure?

I use a neodymium magnet to get them out. Mainly because I have some.

Thanks for all the replies. Does anyone know if they both can be 38 and 41mm pistons?
