Hi,
Can I ask if anybody has used an aftermarket electronic
rev counter on their Sport/ Strada ? If so could you please
let me / us know the make and can it be fitted inside the
original unit, to use the dial and needle ?
Regards
Gordon

I've got a Chinese made rev counter on my bike, bought on Ebay a few years ago. It works well and is certainly more accurate than the original item.It is the same width but the mechanism is deeper so would not fit in the original case. The original dial and needle might fit the new unit but I think it might be a job for a professional.

The name on it is Dyno Racing Stepmaster STS 26A.

I have posted a picture on Flickr of it.

I've found it on Ebay, look for " 3.5'' 80mm Tachometer Gauge High Speed Stepper Motor RPM Rev Counter 7 Color LED"

I've just been on Italian Ebay and there are several original Morini ones for sale, so you have an option.
I suppose it depends on exactly how Italian you want your Italian bike to be, at the end of the day.

Thanks for that, I am warming to the challenge, and
indeed the price, of trying to combine Italian and
Chinese.

Dave, can you please provide some information about how easy/difficult it was to wire up?

It was a few years ago when I fitted this and I think it was easy.

It uses the original wiring, White to Brown, Green to Grey , Black to Blue. The Red and Yellow were not used. Please follow the instructions which come with it as your wiring may not be the same as on my bike.

The little "pod" with buttons on it are used to set the background colour and number of cylinders.

Dave.
