Indicator lights short circuit
Indicator lights short circuit
When indicators on they have started flashing fast and when the lights are on head and tail lamp dim in time with flashers. Seem to have short somewhere but can’t find where. Any pearls of wisdom?
Re: Indicator lights short circuit
Possible broken filament in indicator bulb shorting out when energised?
Re: Indicator lights short circuit
Check all the earth connections on the lighting circuits first and then if no joy disconnect one component at a time to find the source of the problem.

Re: Indicator lights short circuit
Thanks for replies. Will give the disconnections a try. Interestingly flashes faster and dims all the lights faster when headlamp is on as opposed to just sidelight. So possibly the switch. Anyway, here we go.....
Re: Indicator lights short circuit
This problem is similar to that encountered when the ( more complex) flasher unit misbehaves on bikes emanating from Spandau. I realise the Morini device is a simple 2 terminal affair and I think it is fed by a black and a purple pair of wires ( best check) There are multiple earths in the system, each loom has its own earth but they do need to be checked and the ring terminals cleaned now and again. If something is going to fray it may be around the headstock area and under the tank.
What type of switches do you have e.g CEV206?
Good luck

Ballet expensive those Spandau indicator boxes.
On the Morini, the switch connects the battery to indicators then earth via the bulb. Quite a simple system.
Is the battery charged?

Re: Indicator lights short circuit
Chased it down to a dodgy connection between battery and earth point on the frame. Once sorted all better. Although I notice a very slight (really slight) dimming of the headlight bulb when flashers working. Thanks for the comments though.
