Broken clutch cable

I set off today for a spin along the Teign Valley and my clutch felt slightly stiff. I chose to ignore it. On the return leg it became apparent that the cable was going to break so with 6 miles to go I stayed in 2nd gear and coasted up to 14 sets of lights and unbelievably got back without stopping. The cable then broke on my drive as I arrived. The second piece of luck is I had made another in 2010 so was soon fixed. I shall make another but although I seem to have inner cable I am unsure of the correct outer diameter.

Agree, after a minor lightbulb moment I measured the old one. I reckon 2mm inner and 7mm outer the latter seemed to be 43 inches long. Nothing better than mixing units. I even found the bits of metal I used to form a birdcage at each end, sometimes I even surprise myself. Then went out for a spin on my R60/7 and saw the name Bowden on a signpost near Crockernwell.Brilliant.
