Oil Seals

Hi, I've recently bought a 1978 3.5 Sport and I have an oil leak from the clutch side. I believe all the seals have dried out and become hard! I've watched the very useful strip down and re-build on you tube but I'm struggling to source new seals. It looks like I need 4 seals in all? If you have any guidance on seal type/serial numbers as I'm not sure Morini Part Numbers will suffice.
Thanks

You need two Simmeringe/Oilseals

The big one 60/75/8 for the primary/clutch cover
And the small one 26/35/7 for the aluminium basket

And very important some elastic silicon Hylomartype between the primary shaft and the distance tube!

Thank you that's great. How about the small seal behind the ignition/power dynamo?
Thanks

The Morini parts list shows not just the part number but also dimensions for most oil seals so for that end of the cam:
Part 23.0.11 SMIM 13.265 = 13x26x5

You don't really have to take the whole side cover off to change the clutch oil seals on a 350 though (unlike a 500) so no need to disturb that one unless it's also leaking.

It can sometimes be difficult to free the clutch basket from the primary gear if the dowels have been undisturbed for a long time, in which case removing the side case (rather than just the clutch cover) may be required.

Don't forget to also renew the little oil seal in the clutch centre nut (that the clutch push runs through) that is a Morini special only I think: 23.02.19

For that try Mdina Italia. They recently took over the NLM spares stock, NLM usually had them in stock. Is yours mullered though? Try the short mushroom pushrod in it and see if it has any grip and check if it's hardened or split. Also check the mushroom isn't worn or damaged where the seal contacts it.

Mdina have all the seals in a kit, M10859.

Not including the Oil pump seal or the clutch nut gasket rubber, which are also available.

Search oil seal on Mdina site and all will be revealed!

Mike.

The Mdina web store is infinitely better than the NLM one... As in they have one!

You mean no more emailing Stuart for weeks, begging to purchase a $10 item that ends up costing $100. Thank god!
